- People can work either for themselves (as entrepreneurs), for somebody else (in the private sector) or the government (in the public sector).
- Countries strive to have many businesses and entrepreneurs. Private businesses increase production of goods. This creates more wealth and helps countries become richer.
- Youth entrepreneurship is growing in popularity around the globe. Anybody can become an entrepreneur, even a 13 year-old kid! Whether babysitting, setting up summer-time lemonade stands or creating websites, possibilities are endless for creative and savvy kids who wish to turn their hobbies into a rewarding work experience. Working can help a young person build his/her skills, such as leadership, responsibility, and learning to manage time and money.
But
Don’t confuse youth entrepreneurship with child labor. Sometimes children from poor families in poor countries are forced to work to help their family earn more money. Child labor is bad because these kids, often as young as five years old, must work long hours instead of going to school and enjoying their childhoods.
